International Document Education
Before You Notarize Online, Confirm the Apostille Route
Before choosing an online notary, confirm the apostille route. Elite Notary Signing helps you begin with the document, destination, and recipient’s requirements.

Before You Book an Online Notary
Your document needs to go overseas. An online notary appointment sounds convenient, but the receiving organization has also requested an apostille. Before you book, confirm that the notarization format can follow the required international document pathway.
Elite Notary Signing helps clients organize apostille and authentication requests around the document’s origin, destination, and recipient instructions. Based in Duluth, ENS provides apostille facilitation for individuals, families, professionals, and businesses in Gwinnett County and Metro Atlanta.
A remotely notarized document may be eligible for an apostille, but eligibility is document-specific and jurisdiction-specific. Confirm the authorized notarization, the correct apostille authority, and the recipient’s document requirements before paying for either service.
Ask ENS before booking a remote notarization. Share the document type, destination country, and instructions you received.
Three Questions, Three Different Responsibilities
Was the notarization authorized?
The governing jurisdiction determines how the notarial act may be performed. A video call alone is not proof of compliant remote notarization.
Can the authority authenticate it?
The designated apostille authority determines eligibility and the required submission format.
Does the document meet the recipient’s needs?
The recipient’s instructions establish what underlying document, language, signature, and delivery format it needs.
An apostille authenticates the origin of a qualifying public document. It does not certify the contents or establish that the document accomplishes its intended legal purpose. A properly issued apostille should not be confused with approval of the transaction described in the document.
Your Location Does Not Decide the Apostille Route
If you live in Georgia but use an online notary commissioned in another state, do not assume the notarized document can be sent to Georgia for an apostille. The notarial certificate and governing jurisdiction matter.
GSCCCA expressly excludes out-of-state documents from its apostille service. Federal documents and foreign-issued documents also follow their respective authorities’ processes. The country where you will use the document is a separate routing question.
This is where ENS support becomes useful: organizing the request around the actual issuing authority and instructions, rather than the client’s mailing address.
What Georgia’s Published Instructions Require
GSCCCA’s published instructions identify it as Georgia’s apostille authority. For Georgia notarized documents, its requirements include a completed notarial certificate, the exact notarization date, the notary’s signature by hand in ink, and a clear compliant seal impression.
Those instructions do not establish a blanket apostille route for every electronic or remotely notarized file. Confirm an unfamiliar format with the responsible authority before submission.
Georgia publicly recorded documents, including qualifying vital records and court records, follow the certified-record route. GSCCCA says these records are never notarized. Do not add notarization to a certified public record simply because it needs an apostille.
For non-Hague destinations, Georgia’s guidance directs clients to the Secretary of State for Great Seal certification. Additional federal or consular steps depend on the applicable instructions. Apostille and non-Hague authentication are different pathways.
Confirm the Format Before You Sign
Ask the receiving organization whether it needs an original paper document, a handwritten signature, a specific notarial certificate, a translation, or a particular electronic submission method.
Then ask the competent apostille authority whether it accepts the notarized document in that form. Do not assume that printing an electronically signed file preserves its verification features or creates an acceptable paper original.
Remote notarization and an e-Apostille are separate. Completing a remote appointment does not mean an electronic apostille has also been issued.
What to Send ENS to Begin
- Document type and origin: Identify the issuing state, federal agency, or country.
- Destination and recipient: Name the country and organization requesting the document.
- Written instructions: Share the recipient’s requirements and requested format.
- Notarization status: Explain whether it is unsigned, already notarized, or electronically notarized. Identify the notary’s commissioning jurisdiction if known.
- Deadline and delivery: Share the required arrival date and return destination.
Begin with these request details. Use the designated intake process for documents, and avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information in an initial inquiry.
How Elite Notary Signing Supports Your Request
ENS provides apostille facilitation and helps coordinate the practical steps surrounding international document processing. That may include discussing document readiness, the appropriate submission route, delivery needs, and separate notarization when required and available.
Government authorities issue apostilles and authentication certificates. ENS facilitates the service process; it does not issue government certificates, select legal forms, prepare legal documents, or guarantee recipient acceptance.
You do not need to know every technical term before contacting us. Start with what the recipient asked you to provide, and we can discuss the next processing step.

Frequently Asked Questions
QuestionCan a remotely notarized document receive an apostille?
AnswerIt may be eligible when the notarization is authorized, the competent authority can authenticate it, and the document satisfies that authority’s submission requirements. Confirm the specific document and format before ordering.
QuestionCan Georgia apostille a document notarized by an out-of-state online notary?
AnswerGSCCCA states that it cannot apostille out-of-state documents. Contact the competent authority for the jurisdiction responsible for the notarial act. Living in Georgia does not make an out-of-state notarization a Georgia document.
QuestionIs remote notarization the same as an e-Apostille?
AnswerNo. Remote notarization describes the notarial process. An e-Apostille is an electronically issued apostille certificate. One does not automatically include the other.
QuestionCan I simply print an electronically notarized document?
AnswerDo not assume that a printout preserves an electronic signature’s verification features or satisfies submission requirements. Ask the issuing apostille authority what file, original, or authorized paper conversion it accepts.
QuestionDoes an apostille guarantee that my document will be accepted?
AnswerNo. A valid apostille authenticates the public document’s origin. It does not determine whether the underlying document meets the recipient’s requirements for its intended use.
